Why do families use the Assessment Center?
The assessments can be used for four specific purposes:
- To help guide learning: Based on the results of the assessments, ABCmouse lessons are recommended to help improve specific areas of need. That is, upon completion of the assessments, parents and caregivers can immediately assign each child personalized ABCmouse.com lessons based on assessment scores. This cycle of assessment + learning + reassessment is likely to help accelerate learning. In fact, our research has shown that when children complete a recommended lesson on ABCmouse following an assessment, they achieve twice the gains than those who do not complete a lesson!
- To monitor progress: Since assessments can be taken several times during the year, parents and caregivers get a clear picture of how children are progressing.
- To deepen family engagement: By providing specific and meaningful information on learning and progress and clarifying individual strengths and weaknesses, parents and caregivers are better able to support their children while they learn and connect with them around academic topics.
- To assess only: The Assessment Center can also be used independently of the ABCmouse.com curriculum.
