ABCmouse for Teachers is a free educator program that works alongside ABCmouse — the award-winning early learning program for children ages 2–8.
These free accounts are for individual teachers and educators of public schools, private schools and Head Start programs in the U.S. and Canada and are to be used for classroom and in-school purposes only.
As a registered teacher, you get access to a dedicated web-based portal where you can:
- Create a classroom and build a roster of your students
- Use Projection Mode to teach your whole class
- Assign ABCmouse activities directly to your students as classwork or homework
- Access printable activities aligned to your curriculum
- Share a discounted ABCmouse subscription with your students' families for use at home
- Let students log in at school or at home using class codes or QR codes— no usernames, no passwords, no app downloads required.

Accessing ABCmouse
ABCmouse for Teachers is a web-based program (there's no separate app) that teachers can access using a web browser at teachers.abcmouse.com. Simply click the Log In button at the top and choose how you want to log in: enter your email and password, or (if you'd rather not bother with another password) enter just your email and click Send Login Link to log in to your teacher account from your email program.
The primary hub for teachers for classroom and student management is the Dashboard (see the Dashboard section below). For class instruction, choose Projection Mode and use ABCmouse as your students do, so you can demonstrate the program and teach as you play the activities.
For students: Logging in is quick and easy for students, with no usernames or passwords to remember. Direct them to teachers.abcmouse.com and have them enter the Class Code (you’ll find it at the top of your Teacher Dashboard). They then select their own profile, enter their picture passcode (which they choose the first time they log in), and begin. From home, they can use the QR code login option.
Returning Teachers: Upgrading to the New Experience
If you previously used ABCmouse for Teachers, you do not need to create a new account. Simply visit teachers.abcmouse.com and log in with your existing email and password. Your account will be automatically carried over to the all-new ABCmouse for Teachers program the first time you sign in, and you'll see a summary of the transition when you do.
Because ABCmouse for Teachers now offers a completely redesigned classroom setup with expanded rostering, assignment, and student login tools, you will need to set up a new classroom and roster — but this is the same fresh start most teachers do each year at the beginning of a new school year anyway. Think of it as your usual back-to-school setup, just with a much more capable set of tools to work with.
Setting Up Your Classroom
Before your students can use ABCmouse for Teachers, you'll need to set up a classroom.
- From your dashboard (or from the sign-up Congratulations screen), follow the prompts to Set Up My Classroom.
- Enter a classroom name and select your grade level(s).
- Click Create My Class.
- Add your students — you'll need each student's first and last name, grade level, and optionally, a parent email address.
You'll see a list of all the students you've added. Click +Add Student to add more students, or Go to My Dashboard.
You can add or remove students from your roster or change student information at any time from your Teacher Dashboard. Simply click View Full Roster to make any changes, such as changing a student's Learning Path level for Reading or Math, or finding the picture passcode for a student who forgot theirs.
Your Teacher Dashboard
Once you're signed in, your dashboard is your home base. From here you can:
- See your class code — a short code your students use to log in at school (these codes expire; you'll see the time they are valid until)
- View a preview of your student roster
- Quickly navigate to Assignments, Printables, Curriculum, and FAQs
- Access Projection Mode to launch ABCmouse directly on a classroom display
- Print the Home Discount Flyer to send home with students
Assigning Activities to Your Class
ABCmouse for Teachers gives you access to hundreds of activities from the ABCmouse curriculum — including reading, math, science, social studies, art, and more. Teachers can hand-pick activities to assign to the whole class to work on in class or at home.
To create an assignment:
- Click Assign Activities from your dashboard.
- Browse or search the activity catalog.
- Use the filters to narrow by subject, grade level, activity type, or language.
- Click +Class for each activity you want to assign to the class (up to 10 activities).
- Review the selected activities at the top of the page (click x to remove any).
- Click Save Changes to save and have the assignment go live for the class.
Your students will see their assigned activities the next time they log in. You can edit an active assignment at any time by adding or removing activities.
When students log in at home, they see only the activities you have assigned, which keeps at-home learning focused on your priorities.
Printable Activities
In addition to digital activities, ABCmouse for Teachers includes a library of printable worksheets, coloring pages, traceable activities, and more you can use in the classroom or send home.
Click Print Resources from your Dashboard to browse or search the full catalog by topic, skill, or keyword. Use the filters to narrow down the list of printables by subject and grade.
Click +Print for any printable activity to generate a PDF that you can print in the class or email home to parents for student homework.
Helping Students Log In
Students can log in to ABCmouse for Teachers in two ways:
At School
-
Class Code: Share your classroom's 5-character class code (shown at the top of your dashboard). Students enter this code on the login screen, then select their name from the roster and set up a picture passcode.
- QR Code: Students can also scan a classroom QR code using a device camera. Use the Print QR Codes option on your dashboard to print a QR login sheet for your classroom.
At Home
Students can log in at home using their personal QR code. To get the codes they need, go to your Roster screen and click Home Login Codes. On the confirmation screen, click Print QR Codes to Send Home.
You will see QRCodes for Student Home Access page with a My Class section. There will be individual QR codes for each student. Print the full page, cut out the QR code cards, and hand them out to students. Remember, these codes are unique to each student, so make sure they get the right one and encourage families to keep their card in a safe place so they have it when they need to log in to complete an assignment at home.
First-Time Login: Picture Passcode
The first time a student logs in, they'll be asked to choose a picture passcode — a set of 4 images they'll use to verify their identity on return visits. This keeps their progress private even on a shared classroom device.
Note: Student screens are optimized for landscape orientation on tablets and mobile devices.
The Student Experience
Once a student is logged in, they'll see their personal home screen with two options:
- My Assignments — See and launch activities assigned by their teacher. Activities open in-app, so students never leave the experience.
- Explore on My Own — Explore ABCmouse freely, just like they would at home. On devices with the ABCmouse app installed, this will open the app directly.
Students see their own name and avatar in the navigation bar, keeping the experience personal and engaging.
Sending ABCmouse Home with Families
Want your students to keep learning at home? ABCmouse for Teachers lets you share a discounted family subscription with your students' parents and guardians.
At the bottom of your dashboard, you'll see a Helpful Links section. Click Send ABCmouse Home to print a take-home offer with a special price and instructions for families to get started. Families will have a choice of monthly and annual subscription discounts that are not regularly available.
ABCmouse for Teachers is free for educators. A separate ABCmouse family subscription is required for full at-home access. Note: Your students do not need to purchase any subscription in order to use the QR codes you print for them to access your assignments at home.
