Students can access ABCmouse through a student code provided by their teacher or school. To redeem it, go to the ABCmouse login page, select Redeem Code, and enter the provided code. This article walks through the process of using student codes for classroom learning.
There are two types of family invitations with codes that you can redeem. This article will focus on the codes sent home for free Classroom-Linked accounts.
-
Free Classroom-Linked Accounts: Teachers may send an invitation for you to activate a free Classroom-Linked ABCmouse account. These free accounts do not provide full access to ABCmouse; rather, they are limited to lessons that the teacher assigns to your child. These invitations will clearly say that accounts are free. Codes for Classroom-Linked accounts will always be 12 capital letters.
- Discounted Full ABCmouse Accounts: You may also receive an invitation to redeem a code for a discount to a full ABCmouse account. Teachers can earn classroom rewards, including $25 gift cards, when families redeem these discount codes. These invitations will clearly say the code is for a discount. Codes for discounted full ABCmouse accounts will always be 8 characters long, a mix of capital letters and numbers.

We strongly recommended that parents and caregivers redeem codes from a desktop or laptop computer, if possible. ABCmouse can be used on a mobile device after it has been registered on a computer.

How Existing ABCmouse Subscribers Can Redeem a Classroom-Linked Code
If parents or caregivers are already ABCmouse subscribers and get an invitation to set-up a free Classroom-Linked account so their child can work on lessons assigned by their teacher, they should follow the existing members instructions below:
- Click the link for existing members.
-
Enter the email and password associated with the account and press submit.
- Once logged in, enter the student code on your invitation letter.
- Select the Child Profile that the code applies to or make a new Child Profile if needed.
- Select Yes on the last page to confirm the code usage.
- The last page will then redirect you to your ABCmouse account.
Now, you will be able to access any lessons that your child's teacher assigns on the ABCmouse My Lessons page. If your teacher has not created any lessons yet, you can work on a sample lesson. You should then remind the teacher that you have redeemed the code and are ready for some at-home lessons.
How to Redeem a Classroom-Linked Code as a New Member
If the parents or caregivers are not members with ABCmouse, they should follow the new members instructions below to set-up a free Classroom-Linked account so their child can work on lessons assigned by their teacher:
- Enter the student code on your invitation letter in the New Members section and click Submit.
- Enter and confirm both your email address and password.
- Add a checkmark to agree to the Terms of Use.
Why am I Asked for Billing Information for a Free Classroom Account?
The Redeem Code process is set up to work with both types of teacher invitations: both the free, limited Classroom-Linked accounts and the discounted full ABCmouse accounts, so there needs to be billing prompts.
During code activation, when you are redeeming a code for a free, limited Classroom-Linked account, parents and caregivers may choose to sign up for a first month free trial to enjoy full access to all of ABCmouse's members-only sections, such as the Learning Path, Pet Park, or Classroom sections. But starting a full, paid ABCmouse account is not required.
-
- If your family is interested in full access, select the payment plan and enter a method of payment.
- If your family is not interested in full access, scroll to the bottom and select the No, Thanks button.
What Does a Classroom-Linked ABCmouse Account Look Like for Students?
When you open the ABCmouse app or website, you will be taken to the Welcome to Your Classroom-Linked Account page. Students will be able to access all the lessons assigned by their teacher on the My Lessons page.
What Should the Student Do If There Are No Lessons Assigned Yet?
Teachers may send out invitation before they have gone into the program and assigned lessons to all the students in the class. If your teacher has not yet assigned any lessons to your child, they may want to work on the sample lesson that is there so they get a sense of what it's like to use ABCmouse. Parents or caregiver may want to remind the teacher that they have redeemed their Classroom-Linked account and ready to work on lessons at home.
What If We Forgot Our Login Information?
Once your code is redeemed, it is no longer needed and cannot be reset or re-issued. It is the parent's or caregiver's responsibility to remember the email address and password they created when redeeming their code. You can also reset your password by clicking the link on our Login page.
Unfortunately, teachers are not able to view your personal login information. However, if you would like to inquire about a specific code, we are happy to gather that information for you.
Please chat with us and ask to speak to an agent with the following information so we can better assist:
- Student profile's name
- Specific code
What If We Received the Wrong Student Code?
Free Classroom-Linked codes are unique for each student. With this in mind, it is important that the teacher sends the correct invitation to each student’s family so that they do not claim the code for another child.
If you have received the wrong student code, contact your child's teacher for assistance. They will be able to share the correct invitation letter if the other family has not redeemed the code.
If the wrong student code has been claimed by another family, the teacher will have to delete the student(s) in question from their class roster and create a new student profile.
