ABCmouse student codes provided by schools typically grant access to a limited version of the platform, focusing on classroom-aligned content. Some features available to paid subscribers may not be included. This article explains the differences between student access and full subscriptions.
There are two types of codes that may be sent home by a teacher. One type of code is for a free account that only offers limited access to lessons that the teacher assigns to each child. The other is a code offering a discount to a full ABCmouse subscription.
- Free Classroom-Linked Accounts: Teachers may send an invitation for you to activate a free Classroom-Linked ABCmouse account. These free accounts do not provide full access to ABCmouse; rather, students will only have access to lessons that the teacher assigns to them. These invitations will clearly say that accounts are free. Codes for Classroom-Linked accounts will always be 12 capital letters.
- Discounted Full ABCmouse Accounts: You may also receive an invitation to redeem a code for a discount to a full ABCmouse account. Teachers can earn classroom rewards, including $25 gift cards, when families redeem these discount codes. These invitations will clearly say the code is for a discount. Codes for discounted, full ABCmouse accounts will always be 8 characters long, a mix of capital letters and numbers.
Please note that ABCmouse Teacher account used at school and the associated limited Classroom-Linked accounts are separate and different accounts from a paid family subscription at home.
Applying a student's classroom code to an existing account does not overwrite a paid subscription. If a family already has a paid ABCmouse subscription, its regular billing will continue.
If families do not have a paid ABCmouse subscription, they can upgrade to a paid full-access subscription to ABCmouse, but they are not required to do so to access the lessons assigned by the teacher.
