How to Check for App and System Updates

Keeping your ABCmouse app and device software up to date ensures the best learning experience—with access to the latest features, performance improvements, and bug fixes.

This article provides step-by-step instructions for updating both the ABCmouse app and your device’s operating system, depending on what device you’re using.

Choose Your Device:

• Android Phones and Tablets

• Fire Tablets

• iPhones and iPads

• Desktop & Laptop Computers

Android Phones and Tablets

Update the ABCmouse App:

1. Open the Google Play Store.

2. Tap the Menu icon (☰).

3. Select My apps & games.

4. Find ABCmouse in the list.

5. Tap Update next to the app (if available).

Update Your System Software:

1. Open the Settings app.

2. Scroll down and tap System.

3. Tap Advanced (or About phone, depending on your device).

4. Tap System Update.

5. Follow any on-screen instructions.

Fire Tablets

Update the ABCmouse App:

1. Go to your Home screen.

2. Tap Apps in the toolbar.

3. Tap the Store (top right).

4. Tap the Menu icon (☰) at the bottom of the screen.

5. Select App Updates.

6. Find ABCmouse, then tap Update.

Update Your System Software:

1. Open the Settings app.

2. Scroll down and tap Device Options.

3. Tap System Updates.

4. Tap Check Now, then Update if available.

iPhones and iPads

Update the ABCmouse App:

1. Open the App Store.

2. Tap your Profile icon (top right).

3. Scroll down to the Upcoming Automatic Updates section.

4. Tap Update All or tap Update next to ABCmouse.

Update Your System Software:

1. Open the Settings app.

2. Tap General.

3. Tap Software Update.

4. Tap Download and Install (if an update is available).

Desktop & Laptop Computers

Update the ABCmouse App (if installed via desktop app):

1. Open the Start menu.

2. Go to Settings.

💡 If you're using ABCmouse through a web browser, the app does not require updating—but your browser should be kept current.
