Apple released M1, which is a new processing system on a silicon chip. Apple M1 is available for certain MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, Mac Mini, iMac and iPad Pro devices. This provides 3.5x faster CPU performance and up to 15x faster machine learning capabilities compared to the intel chips they have previously used.
This new chip also allows Apple users to run iOS apps on their desktop/laptops. However, this can cause issues with ABCmouse on MacBook and iMac devices as our developers have not yet made the necessary changes to our app that will allow it to run properly on M1 devices.
If you are experiencing issues with the ABCmouse app on your MacBook or iMac, please try the following:
- First identify if you are using an M1 device.
- On a MacBook or iMac device, select the Apple icon found at the top left of your screen and then select About This Mac to see more details.
- If you are not using an M1 device, proceed with recommended troubleshooting tips.
- If you are using an M1 device, please uninstall the ABCmouse app and instead go to your web browser to log in and access ABCmouse.
